Passion and art on the streets

For a week Seville processions works of the most important artisan hands of the Baroque until today. Juan de Mesa, Martínez Montañez, Pedro and Luisa Roldán… sculptors who have left their mark on our city, creating carvings that move us at first sight.
An experience where time seems to stand still. The smell of incense, the creaking of the floats, the countless line of Nazarenes and penitents. Stamps that remain engraved in the memory of everyone who lives our big week.
71 brotherhoods take to the streets from the Friday of Sorrows until Easter Sunday. Of them, 61 make their penitential station to the Cathedral. Here we leave you more information about each one.

Semana Santa is an event with different layers, and each layer is essential to understand the magnitude of the event. From gastronomy to the most independent culture, the city overflows with plans during these days.
A history-making event
This 2023, Holy Week in Seville is even more special. This year the city celebrates its Santo Entierro Grande, an extraordinary procession in which different brotherhoods of all days participate, and narrates the passion and death, following the order of the gospels.
There is no specific reason for which it is celebrated, but it is added to some key commemoration of the city. On this occasion 15 processions will make up the 11th edition of the general procession of the Santo Entierro Grande, for the 775th anniversary of the Reconquest of the city.
