Museum of Popular Arts and Customs

The Museum of Popular Arts and Customs of Seville, is located in the Maria Luisa Park, within the Plaza de America. It occupies the Mudejar Pavilion, a building built in 1914 by the architect Aníbal González for the Ibero-American Exposition of Seville (1929).

One of the most complete collections of Andalusian Popular Ceramics in Europe.

It comprises a space of 5496 m² for permanent exhibition and services. Mudejar style, it is built in exposed brick with ceramic applications full of fantasy motifs.

 

During the Ibero-American Exposition it was known as the «Ancient Art Pavilion». In 1972 renovations were carried out. Its functions as a museum are developed since March 4, 1973, when it opens its doors to the public. The First Floor and the Semi-Basement Floor are equipped as a museum. It is also equipped with an Audiovisual Room, a Conference Room. The collection of Andalusian Popular Ceramics that owns the museum, is one of the most complete existing in Europe next to the existing in the Hamburg Museum.
