Flamenco Dance Museum

The Flamenco Dance Museum of Seville is located in the heart of the city, in the San Isidoro district, between the well-known Plaza de la Alfalfa and the Cathedral.

Pure art in motion

Practically the entire museum is dedicated to one of the artistic expressions that has had more roots and importance in the culture of Andalusia, as is the Flamenco dance. It is the first and only museum in the world known to date, dedicated to this art. Visitors from all over the world come to learn about the origins and evolution of a centuries-old tradition and culture. The creation of the Museum is due to the initiative of the Sevillian dancer Cristina Hoyos.

After remodeling works on a building dating from the eighteenth century, the Museum was inaugurated on April 7, 2006. It consists of a space divided into four floors, whose basement is also a characteristic element, and where the initial atmosphere of the building has been preserved. On the first floor, there is a typical Andalusian courtyard in the Ecijan style, which is one of the few remaining in Seville. In it, Flamenco shows are offered, and other styles and variants that have some kind of link with the Flamenco dance.
