MONUMENTS, ATTRACTION, MUST-SEE

Stendhal Syndrome cubed

The monumentality of Seville will impress you, we enjoy an immense historical and artistic heritage, perfectly preserved ancient buildings that continue to impress all the people who visit us.

Fusion architecture throughout history

Among all the historic buildings that Seville treasures, three constructions stand out that you can not miss in any way. A set that was declared by the UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Cathedral with the Giralda, the Archivo de Indias and the Real Alcázar.

The Archivo de Indias preserves documents of enormous value: 43,000 files, 80 million pages, 8,000 maps … and, among them, handwritten texts of Christopher Columbus or Magellan. A space whose visit serves to know the history of the world without leaving Seville.

The Giralda of Seville is a tower of unparalleled dimensions for a building of its time (from the twelfth to the sixteenth century). In fact, it was for a long time the tallest building in the world (101 meters including the Giraldillo, the beautiful weathervane that crowns it and one of the symbols of the city). The Giralda is a perfect symbiosis of different architectural styles, of different civilizations, a tower that begins as a minaret and ends as a bell tower. When you go up to its viewpoint you can see the whole city, and at its feet the Patio de los Naranjos and the largest Gothic cathedral in existence.

The largest gothic temple in the world

The Cathedral of Seville will leave you perplexed by its proportions. The chronicles tell that it was conceived by the Cathedral Chapter under the words «Let us make a temple so grandiose that those who see it carved will think us mad». Everything in the Cathedral is colossal. You can admire the main altarpiece, considered by many to be one of the most outstanding works in the history of art, or take a close look at the mausoleum where the remains of Cristopher Columbus rest.

Spaces dreamed by different kings

A few meters from the Cathedral, you can see the walls behind which extends the Real Alcazar of Seville: a palace of palaces, a unique set in the world.

Since the early Middle Ages this walled enclosure has served as a residence for kings of different eras, leaving in each case its architectural legacy. And even today it is the official residence in Seville of the Kings of Spain, which makes this fortified space the oldest active royal palace in Europe.

The proliferation of incredible details, the history that is breathed in each room, its dreamy gardens… all this makes this palace complex an almost unreal citadel that evades you from the present time.

The world of cinema on multiple occasions, or series such as Game of Thrones, have already surrendered to its charms.
