Five exhibitions to enjoy this summer in Seville
Seville is a multifaceted and multicultural city and this is expressed in everything that takes place in the capital of Seville. In the summer season, art is on display in the city, hosting first-rate exhibitions that are worth enjoying while they are still available.
Museums are ideal places to take shelter from the heat and find shade. Therefore, during the hottest hours of the day, a perfect way to get to know Seville is to visit these enclaves, which are also places where art and knowledge are generated and encountered.
This summer there are several exhibitions available in the city and it is possible to visit, among them:
ABSTRACTO ESTRICTO. MANUEL SALINAS
For followers of contemporary art, the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (CAAC) has an exhibition which pays tribute to the Sevillian artist Manuel Salinas. Under the title “Abstracto estricto”, this exhibition curated by Pepe Yñiguez brings together a selection of the artist’s most outstanding works. A vibrant and transgressive exhibition that will leave no one indifferent.

COLORES DEL MUNDO
Photography and vibrant colours are the protagonists of this exhibition. “Colores del mundo” invites us on a visual journey through the lenses of National Geographic photographers. From the deep blue of the oceans to the vibrant tones of tropical flora, this exhibition captures the essence of colours in different corners of the planet.

JOSE LUIS MAURI. PAINTINGS
At the Espacio Santa Clara, the city presents a captivating retrospective of the nonagenarian artist, José Luis Mauri. This exhibition is more than an exhibition; it is a tribute to the passion and freedom of a master who never let himself be pigeonholed. His paintings show the evolution of the Andalusian capital and those lesser-known parts of Seville. It is undoubtedly a perfect opportunity to discover the city from another point of view.

LA ESTRELLA DE MIRÓ
CaixaForum Seville is hosting this exhibition, which is a real gem. It is the impressive tapestry “La estrella de Miró”, created by the genius Joan Miró and the talented textile artist Josep Royo. Each thread of the tapestry tells a story, each colour awakens an emotion. Miró, with his unmistakable visual language, transports us to a dreamlike world where the everyday becomes extraordinary.

SEVILLA EN LA MIRADA
“Sevilla en la mirada” is a selection of 86 works from the last donation made by Francisco Luque Cabrera to the Seville Museo de Bellas Artes. Paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings… from the 16th to the 20th century make up this exhibition. The exhibition brings together the works donated by Francisco Luque in his fourth and last donation. He had already made this gesture to the museum on three previous occasions: in 1995, 2015 and 2016.
A group of oil paintings by Diego López and the sculptural work of Antonio Illanes stand out in the exhibition, which will be open to visitors between 16 May and 15 September 2024.
