China Week 2024

Chinese Culture for the little ones: Fun kids' workshops during China Week 2024!

Seville and China may be far apart on the map, but they are closely linked when it comes to tradition. The interaction between the city and the Asian country has a history spanning centuries, creating a legacy that remains relevant today. This connection, forged over the years, will be celebrated this October with the China Week 2024 in Seville. As part of this cultural event, there is a special program for children designed to promote respect, curiosity, and cultural exchange among the little ones.

From the China to the Heart of Seville

On Sunday, October 20, the Marqués de Contadero center will host a series of workshops dedicated to Chinese culture, specifically designed for children. These workshops have been oganized by the leading Chinese language education centers in Seville, “Colegio Chino de Sevilla” and “Mandarin Centers,” and will feature four sessions taught by native instructors who will introduce the little ones to fundamental aspects of Chinese culture.

The first workshop will focus on crafts and is titled: Crea tu danza del dragón Chino” (Create your Chinese dragon dance). It will accommodate 20 children and is designed for kids aged 4 to 8 years. Additionally, the second workshop is crafted for little ones aged 6 to 10 years and is also a craft session: Crea tu teatro de sombras chinas (Create your Chinese shadow theater).

On the other hand, for older participants, there will be a workshop titled: Caligrafía tradicional china (Traditional Chinese calligraphy),  designed for individuals aged 14 and up. Finally, the Marqués de Contadero center will host the workshop Crea tu propio marcapáginas chino” (Create your own Chinese bookmark) intended for children aged 10 and older.

Cultural exchange between China and Seville reaches its peak this year during the China Week 2024, and features activities for all ages. In the case of the children’s workshops that will take place in Marqués de Contadero, all are free, include materials and have capacity to accommodate 20 children. It is necessary to register this form in order to participate.

Additionally, from October 21 to 23, the Marqués de Contadero center will host school workshops organized by Mandarin Centers. Led by native instructors, these workshops aim to showcase and strengthen the bonds between both cultures.
