The Seas of Magellan's Round the World Tour
The Aquarium of Seville recreates the ecosystems that Magellan encountered on the First Voyage around the World. A voyage that, from Seville, took his expedition to the length and breadth of the oceans to complete the circumnavigation of the planet for the first time in history.
More than 500 aquatic species
During the «transoceanic» tour proposed by the Aquarium of Seville you will get to know the flora and fauna that impressed Magellan on his voyage.
You will be able to admire more than 500 species from different ecosystems. The thematic areas are as follows: Guadalquivir, Atlantic, Oceanarium, Rainforest, Indo-Pacific, and other areas such as the African Savannah or the area dedicated to jellyfish.
Some of these fabulous creatures are the Bull Shark, which majestically dominates the Oceanarium, the sturgeon that populated the waters of the Guadalquivir, the Mosaic Stingray of the Atlantic, the Green Iguana of the Rainforest or the Lionfish of the Pacific.
One of the largest oceanariums in Europe
The Seville Aquarium has the deepest shark tank in the Iberian Peninsula. It has a capacity of 2 million liters of water and reaches up to 9 meters deep. Numerous species live in this oceanarium, such as sharks or sea turtles, among others.
A perfect plan to enjoy with the family
Seville offers many possibilities to enjoy with the family: the Isla Magica theme park, the water parks Agua Magica and Aquópolis, the Casa de la Ciencia, the Pabellón de la Navegación, the CaixaForum… and of course, the Aquarium of Seville.
The Aquarium is an excellent option for children to learn while playing and become aware of the importance of respecting the natural environment. Different workshops and playful contents will help them to love and care for the oceans and their inhabitants.
The Tortuga Chelo is the mascot of the Seville Aquarium, a friendly character who also really exists: a sea turtle that lives in the aquarium as part of a species recovery program.
During your visit to the Aquarium, be sure to cross the Oceanarium through its interior tunnel: an immersive experience with which you can see «from the inside» the parade of species. It will leave the children speechless.
